New Sony Technology


Sony unveiled what is billed as the world’s first flexible, full-color OLED display built on organic thin-film transistor (TFT) technology. The 2.5-inch prototype display supports 16.8 million colors at a 120 x 160 pixel resolution, is 0.3 mm thick and weighs 1.5 grams.

    In late 2010, Samsung Electronics announced the development of a prototype 4.5 inch flexible AMOLED display.The prototype device was then showcased at Consumer Electronics Show 2011.During the 2011 Q3 quarterly earnings call, Samung’s vice president of investor relations, Robert Yi, confirmed the company’s intentions of applying the technology in handsets and added “… we are looking to introduce [the flexible displays] sometime in 2012.”

  3. In January 2012 Samsung acquired Liquavista, a company with expertise in manufacturing flexible displays, and announced plans to begin mass production by Q2 2012. During Samsung’s CES 2013 keynote presentation, two prototype mobile devices that incorporated the flexible AMOLED display technology were shown to the public.

  6. Can’t wait until restaurant menus are made of this crap. Then I can order without having to wait for some incompetent unmotivated worker to come along and notice me waiving my arm. Do I need help? No, I frequently sit in restaurants and wave for fun.

  7. WHAT? MADE IN 2007 IN JAPAN? WTH? IPAD WASNT EVEN OUT YET?!!! THEY INVENTED MACHINES ON PLASTIC THAT IS PAPER THIN AND REAL IN 2007 AND NO ONE IN AMERICA KNEW>: WTF IS THIS?

  8. lol many peoples didnt catch the point. its mean that all this technology that is selling today was created few years ago. and theres lots more technologies but theyr not public yet. 

  9. Lol sony was 5 years earlier then samsung but still samsungs flexible screen gets feedback like, wtf!?
